a Scandinavian film and serie virus?
A few years ago I had a colleague, Ellen, also fond of holidays in Sweden, a fanatical student in the Swedish language. Ellen gave me the movie “As it is in heaven / Sa som i himmelen ” with the beautiful song: `Gabriella’s song`.
What a marvelous film, with beautiful images and music, which gave the feeling of recognition gifts, though, fortunately not all! Continue reading

Het zou te veel worden om de enthousiaste verhalen helemaal over te nemen.

We met Ons Huset again, as we liked it. Our summer guests took care very well of Ons Huset . Thanks for that! It is always exciting, to see, to meet Ons Huset again after the summer. This time, our friends Willem and Mieke, and their dog Fleur came for the first time to Sweden.
Well, sometimes you miss a cup with your name, but I hope somebody is happy with my cup. The kitchen stuff, somethimes, is a bit replaced, no problem, if this gives more vacation pleasure, so what?
As in the previous blog said, Sunday predicted rain, but the rain came at the end of the afternoon. During the day, the four of us and the 3 dogs, we went to the forset and surched for trumpet chanterelles, We found them and took them, of course, for the delicious taste in the delicious dishes, made by Gerton.

Monday was dry and we had a lovely, cultural day, in Karlstad, we went to the Värmland Museum.
It ia a very nice museum, including the creation of Värmland, the arrival of the first people, a children’s exhibition and a changing exhibition, paintings and pottery. For children it is also very accessible, fun! I have to tell, that Willem and Mieke loved Ons Huset and Sweden. They have never been to a Nordic country, never had this experience. Also Fleur, their dog, loved it, especially now that she could rely on the pack. Pip was already impressed by the older lady, also Sox accepted Fleur as the oldest! So for the first time, it was not him, who thought who had to protect us. Thank you, Fleur! Sox was so nice not to bark, if a strange dog came along.
(unfortunately, Fleur went a day earlier back home and yes, Sox thought he had to protect Ons Huset, again by barking!)
We also had a nice walk in the Brattfallet, unfortunately the long route was closed because of to much rainfall last week. The shorter route gave wet shoes, even on the shelves, in a swampy part of the route, and wet feet, if you shouldn’t have good shoes.
We have visited Leif, at the Vadmalstampen, he had a “nice event” from Ekesharad, that day before, with all kinds of games late in the afternoon and then in the beautiful, romantic barn, decorated with the stuffed bears, lynx, grouse, several birds, a fox with pheasant, the great elkhead on the wall, he had given a wild dinner. We were allowed to use the typical tent, a tipi, to use for our BBQ, great fun!
Again we visited the necessary loppis and thrift shops, always fun. Unfortunately we have not seen any moose. We met 2 German hunters, who came especially for elk hunting to Hagfors, they were complaining that so few were there now , “only” 5 shot. Last year in the same time 17! This would come by too many wolves. But if there are no moose, there are no wolves and vice versa? Or am I so crooked?
We had, though we saw several hunters in speed, a wonderful week, beautiful weather, been outside a lot, had lots of fun and good food, thanks to Gerton.

A new idea! to share with our readers
Gerton goes back to Sweden, again, in 2 weeks, to advise Job for a Christmas dinner. He will go for a few days, we can tell you about it, in november. Willem, Mieke and their dog Fleur, drove back on friday, back to the Netherlands. We drive a day later.
At our trip home to the Netherlands, we got the idea to write about Swedish recipes, for our blog. I think it is fun for readers to get a bit in the Swedish atmosphere. For Gerton, it is not difficult to make the Swedish recepies into Dutch recepies, he finally learned for it! I prefer to eat instead of cooking.
Since we have this new site with a guestbook, which wasn´t at the previous site, there comes a blog with feedback from guests since 2005. In Ons Huset is a book in which you can write about your holiday.
For us, often one of the first things to do, when we in arrive in Ons Huset, is reading this book. It’s so nice to read, how excited the guests have been and what they have done, also we hear often something new. In the next blog you can read about the adventures and activities of previous guests.
On our way to the Indian summer, 2011 Sweden
It was a lovely holiday week in Sweden. Last night we came home and this morning our three bantams, our Dutch bantam, the other chicken with lots of feathers on her legs and our Chabo greeted me enthusiastic. The ladies do not look very well, the are in the molt, poor girls.(Last year the Dutch bantam, in the middle of December, she was in to the molt, another time I will tell you, what I to do, as Gerton wanted!). The stove in the kitchen gave a nice fire, the thermometer outside the window, a Swedish thing, you screw it to the frame of the window, gives Swedish temperatures, -1 degree, at 8.45 am (fortunately, little holiday feeling yet).
Anyway,our holiday, we left at 3.00 am from Schaarsbergen, with friends, Willem and Mieke and their dog, Fleur, a Border Collie cross / Friesian Stabij. The necessary alcoholics, in orders of Swedish friends, were taken with us again! ( and also the wine, we will drink).
It was dry when we left, a good weather to drive, but Germany gave a lot of rain! Denmark was a little cloudy, but the bridge to Malmö, the Öresundsbridge, gave beautiful views. In Sweden itself, the atmosphere was very good, this autumn. We excepted on Sunday afternoon, evening and night rain, but we got more blue skies. According to William, a beautiful sky for skiing! Fortunately, the snow still takes some time. At this time of the year we don’t use the winter tires yet. In Germany, Denmark and Sweden, there are obliged.
The trip went great, even at the difficult pieces between Bremen and Hamburg, because we left in the night, on time. The trip through Sweden went well, better than the last time when we were drove little too fast! and we had, unfortunately, a beige Saab following us, with three antennas on the roof. Now I know what it means, three antennas, (police!!) it costs you money, when you are driving too fast! Not so nice! Too bad, but it did not spoil the holiday.

Holiday in Charroux, France
We have just returned home from Charroux, Auvergne in France. As previously noted, we have been given the opportunity to change holiday houses. That gave us a holiday in a country, we also like! We often visited France. We enjoyed the house, feeling the French life if living, Charroux sauntered deliciously. Charroux has a nice variety of views, flaps and letterboxes to admire.
We discovered the area, we visited Vichy and tasted all the bubbling spring water(plain water, purchased from the store tastes better!). The weather was good for us, in the Netherlands it was raining again, the sky send liters of rainwater, including an earthquake of 4.6 on theRichter scale, just over the German border. Besides the things we have done, but we got lazier and lazier. The work in your holiday house, normally, which sometimes are normal, even nice to do, were not there. It was so nice and relaxing.
Now we returned home and on the web cam, somewhere in Hagfors, it is starting to itch again, to go to Sweden. The webcam shows a magnificent sun. To go out there again, hmmmm. In October, we go with some friends, who never expected to go the North of Europe for a holiday. They are fervent Southern Europe holidaymakers (especially makers). Their dog, Fleur, is coming along, so everything was already arranged, because of the blood test, the library was visited, books about the region borrowed and plans were already made. Next time, we will visit the museum in Karlstad. We have not yet visited the museum, so you see, it appears every time again, there is something new to experience.
Wij zijn net weer thuis vanuit Charroux, Auvergne in Frankrijk. Zoals al eerder vermeld hebben we de mogelijkheid gekregen om te ruilen van vakantiehuis. Dat gaf ons een vakantie in een land wat we vroeger, wat klinkt dit!, ook vaak bezochten. We hebben genoten van het huis, weer even aan het Franse leven gesnuffeld, heerlijk door Charroux gekuierd. Het was leuk allerlei doorkijkjes, luiken en brievenbussen te bewonderen. 
De omgeving werd verkend en we hebben o.a. Vichy bezocht en geproefd van al het borrelende bronwater (gewoon water,gekocht in de winkel smaakt het beter!). Het weer speelde ons in de kaart, in Nederland kwam het weer eens met bakken uit de hemel, inclusief een aardbeving, van 4,6 op de schaal van Richter, net over de grens. Naast de dingen die we hebben gedaan, werden we toch ook steeds luier. De regelzaakjes, die er normaal wel eens zijn, ook met alle plezier, waren er niet. Het was lekker relaxed zo.
Nu we weer thuis zijn en op de webcam kijken die ergens in Hagfors staat, gaat het kriebelen weer naar Zweden te gaan. De webcam laat een prachtig zonnetje te zien. Weer om er op uit te gaan. In oktober mogen we weer en gaan er vrienden mee, die nooit hadden verwacht nog eens naar het Noorden van Europa op vakantie te gaan. Het zijn fervente Zuid- Europa- vakantievierders (met nadruk op vierders). Ook hun hond gaat mee, dus werd er al van alles weer geregeld, ivm de bloedtest, de bieb werd bezocht, boeken over de regio gehaald en plannen werden al gesmeed. De volgende keer wordt door ons in ieder geval het museum in Karlstad aangedaan . Dat hebben we nog niet bezocht, zodat het maar weer eens blijkt, dat er elke keer weer iets nieuws te beleven valt.
